On Top of the World

The On-top-of-the-World hike has perhaps the most awesome views of any of our hikes, perhaps any hike in southern Utah.  After hikiing up a canyon, we traverse the ridgecrest of Capitol Reef for several miles with the Strike Valley and Henry Mountains on one side and the redrock flatirons with arches on the other. The trail loops around to follow Muley Twist Canyon where we explore slot canyons, arches, and other natural wonders.  Nearly 10 miles long with some steep ascents this is one of our most challenging hikes.  Although this is a designated trail in Capitol Reef NP, its difficulty and remoteness makes it a route less traveled – with our 4WD SUV we are able to save about 5 miles of hiking along a jeep trail required for folks in regular cars.
