On Top Of the World - Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Hike

"…formations stand forth as bold and continuous cliffs… features of great diversity and beauty, some bearing striking resemblance to architectural forms…[One can] wander as through a deserted city, treading on stone pavements… exploring mural alcoves and intersecting avenues, pausing, perhaps, in contemplation of citadels that once rose in majesty but are now collapsing into ruins beneath the weight of their own massive masonry..." - Dr. Fritioff Frixell, geologist, The Tetons, 1938

The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort tram provides easy access to spectacular high mountain scenery of the southern Teton Range. Although most tourists take the tram to the top of the mountain, Earth Tours has exclusive permission to get off the tram at mid-mountain to begin a unique and wonderful hike. Noting changes in the forests as we gain elevation, we will marvel at alpine wildflowers, wildlife, and fossils. Breathtaking views of Jackson Hole, its rivers, and surrounding mountains top off a great day before riding the tram back down to Teton Village. This three-mile hike climbs about 1250 feet from Tower 3 to the top of Rendezvous Mountain at 10,450' elevation. Our naturalists' pace will allow you to catch your breath with dignity in the thin alpine air, and hiking uphill is easier on the knees than descending steep trails.
